✨ Finale “Er Was Eens” – From Story to Sou ✨ Finale “Er Was Eens” – From Story to Sound-scape 🎤📚 It was an honor to contribute to the national writing competition “Er Was Eens” for the second year in a row, where more than 2000 MBO students submitted their own story. From all those powerful voices, 3 finalists were chosen – each young person with a special story, full of courage, emotion, originality and identity! For these finalists I was allowed to do something special: bring their story to life in a personal track, a custom sound-scape. ✍ - 🎶 Words became music. 📖 - 🗣️ Their story got a voice. ♥️ - 📣 And they felt heard. I liked the reactions of the finalists, one writer who eventually won said; “It exactly expressed the story I wrote in a song”. It showed what happens when you give young people not only the pen, but also the stage. Thanks to the organization of “Er Was Eens” , @passionatebulkboek , for this special initiative. And especially: thanks to all the young people who dared to share their story. Writing has helped me to give my feelings and emotions a place. Where I sometimes found it difficult to express myself, the pen and paper gave me the freedom to create a new perspective. Een fijne vaderdag toegewenst aan alle vaders die Een fijne vaderdag toegewenst aan alle vaders die zich inzetten voor hun kind. Ik kreeg op deze vaderdag ochtend een mooi t-shirt met daarop “Coronie”, het geboorte dorp van mijn familie in Suriname en “Hong Kong”, de geboorte plaats van mijn bet-overgrootvader Ho-a-Tin. Een vader die samen met zijn broers naar Suriname trok om werk te vinden… Ook kreeg ik een mooie schoen waarin ik spaargeld kan stoppen zodat ik “stinkend rijk” kan worden, niet mijn woorden 😂 Vader zijn is niet altijd even makkelijk omdat je het allerbeste aan je kind wil geven maar soms misschien vanwege bepaalde omstandigheden daar niet toe in staat bent maar uiteindelijk is iedere moeite die je erin stopt iets wat uiteindelijk tot bloei komt, vroeg of laat, so don’t stop investing love 🤎🙏🏿

Sly Stone was one of the first cross-over funk, so Sly Stone was one of the first cross-over funk, soul, rock Pioneers. The first time that i heard his music was actually trough a sample of his track “Everyday People” that was used by Arrested Development back in ‘92. I was a young teenager of 13 years old and I was going through many changes but music was one of my anchors. As I continued to evolve as an artist I started digging into more of the samples I heard and I learned more about the revolutionary nature of Sly’s band being one of the first black and white bands joining forces, making him an even bigger example for artists and bands. It turned out to be a blueprint for my first band and my music style later on, Rock, Soul, Rap and Funk would be the foundations for my music that is Holy Ghost Spirit filled, full of Raw Life Experiences.
