Day 3 - Italy Prison Tour 🇮🇹 The day befor Day 3 - Italy Prison Tour 🇮🇹 The day before yesterday had a full but crazy day where we visited 2 prisons so that meant getting up early and packing and unpacking 2 x within a short time. The first prison had a large round space with an auditorium-like vibe. It looked like an old Roman temple in a prison with a big echo. After 30 minutes of setting up the sound set and sound checking with the entire band, the room was filled with men. About 70 men were present with quite a few prison guards. In short time all the men were singing and dancing along and were completely silent while telling my testimony and life story. After the concert many people came to get an autograph and have a chat about what the concert meant to them. For a long time they have not received any encouragement or inspiration from outside cause of the lockdown. After walking stairs, lugging heavy metal carts and passing through old metal gates, we stood outside in a wonderful Italian sun. After lording the vans we left for the next prison. Arriving at the 2nd prison I noticed that it is an exact copy of the 1st prison we visited on day 1, also à maximum Security prison. After reporting at the gate, clearing our equipment and instruments, we were allowed to go to the theater hall. When we got there we lifted our instruments on stage and did a sound check shortly afterwards. The acoustics were really good which made it extra nice to play there. Shortly after the sound check, the prisoners walked in and we played for something like 80 people. After my testimony, we received a message from Salvatore that someone from the audience wanted to rap with us on stage. He came with a friend that was an incredible Breakdancer. This rapper turned out to be a professional rapper who made money from Italian street rap when he was free. He had à good and consistent flow. At the end we prayed for them and had Some good talks. We shared my book + new testament and spoke to some local city councils. Once there we lifted our instruments on stage and did a sound check shortly afterwards. The acoustics were particularly good and that is why it was extra nice to play there. Shortly after the sound check, the men walked in and we played for something like 80 men. What I got from it came across very tight and in terms of content he also brought out some nice punchlines, I understood from Gionathan, my booker and good friend with whom I perform during This tour. Today day 2 of the prison tour with two prisons on Today day 2 of the prison tour with two prisons on the schedule. Yesterday was a special first day with beautiful encounters in prison. More than 50 men were present who were visibly moved by the music and message of hope. There were also city council members, teachers and the director who experienced her first morning as a prison manager. Afterwards all detainees received my new book with signature + a copy of the New Testament. I also ran into an Italian from Brooklyn who said, “you have made our lives even more beautiful with your joyful countenance and your music, thank you!”. It is a bit of a challenge because we have to get up before 6 o'clock every morning because of the distance, but it is more than worth it. Pray with us that today many will again be touched by the message of hope and experience God's love. Yesterday I was ordained as a pastor for my work i Yesterday I was ordained as a pastor for my work in the prison by my own pastor @stanleyhofwijks and my co-pastor Arjan from Kerken met Stip. I have always had the desire to be able to assist the young people and adults I meet in and out of detention from the office of a clergyman. This adds an extra dimension to the work I get to do and I hope and pray that I can assist and lead many people to God in their situations.
